The following is an outline of our 1st Jaunt out and about with Evie our new Motorhome -
TRIP NO 1
Tavistock on Dartmoor - great site, lots of walks, a bus into the town market and lots of colour in the hedgerows.
Beeches Farm Chepstow has an amazing campsite with wonderful views towards Wales and walks down through the woods and across the river to Tintern town and abbey. Lots of friendly cool dudes
yellow VW's, firepits for cosy chats and foods or the alternative easy option of supper/breakfast cooked by GRAILS (cafe van on site).
The Elan Valley Rhyador (post war construction of dams to serve the City of Birmingham and districts) a interesting project that is not only essential and functional but provides wonderful
wild-life and leisure facilities (hiking and walking) for locals and visitors. We stayed at a campsite in town just by the River Wye. The serpent in the water can be visited at nearby
The Gower in all its glory was our next stop. This was as close to 'wild' camping as we came on this trip - even the sheep had heard about the 'home comforts' and came to visit.
Great view, close to the beach, wonderful skys, tucked under the moor and within walking distance of community shop and pub at Llanmadog.
Exmoor close to Dulverton, walks along the river, bus into town for fantastic breakfast at the Copper Kettle (dogs welcomed and Tommy tucked himself in the corner hoping for spare sausages to
come his way) This one of only two days that it rained during out 28 day trip so walked around shops with umbrella to the ready and hung around in the Lion pub before returning to campsite
(such a hard life).
We returned to Tavistock on our way home and decided we love this market town and will be returning soon
